Hastings Trans Pride

In May 2025, I joined the project "Trans Portraits", lead by Ruth Bollock, a fantastic painter based in St Leonards, Hastings. This was a long term project that Ruth had been working on for a number of years, but in response to the Supreme Court Ruling which discriminated against transgender individuals, she decided to open up her personal project wider to reach and support more people. A number of trans individuals submitted portraits, and artists painted them with the aim of getting them exhibited for Hastings Trans Pride. For more pictures and behind the scenes of the work, please head to my Portfolio page, and select "Bloom: The Beginning of Becoming".

Life Drawing
As well as contributing to the Trans Portraits project, as part of the BLOOM exhibition for Hastings Trans Pride, my partner and I helped Ruth facilitate a community life drawing event. We participated as the primary models, with gallery visitors able to come take part and draw us. We also had a handful of other trans people volunteer to model, which was fantastic. The drawings were then added to the exhibition, spanning a huge length of the wall. This helped increase the footfall to the gallery, allowing more pieces and prints to be sold. Overall, over £1000 was raised for charity, and it was a fantastic exhibition.
