The Body and Blood

This collection, “The Body and Blood” explores an insight into my childhood through iconographical painting combined with realism. “Semper Fidelis” reflects on the stages of childhood and a retrospective of growing up in a religious school. The collection of tattoo portraits “Battleaxe”, “Orange Juice” and “Ted” represents 3 of my own tattoos; a symbol of my commitment to nostalgia and preserving memory through art. The juxtaposition of classic religious themes with the rebellious nature of tattoos portrays my complex feelings about growing up, self expression, and identity, made especially complicated by my autism diagnosis at age 20.
